Powerful, high-quality machine BUT dangerous design flaw!
At first, we thought this vacuum was absolutely incredible. It's a heavy, powerful machine which will clean the heck out of the hair in your house and sweep up all of the dust from your family and pets. We have two dogs, two cats, three humans, and a large expanse of shag carpet to clean in our house so a really fantastic vacuum is an absolute must. We could not believe how much hair this picked up and how clean it left the floor and how quickly it did so, cutting our chore time in half from the Dyson we had previously. My 10-year-old also decided to help out and vacuum while we were gone, which is when we found out that pistachio shells, wood chips, Christmas ornament hooks, rubber bands, and small stones would all get sucked up in this vacuum without a hitch. So impressive! It was easy to empty and very functional. HOWEVER: After about 2 weeks of use, the vacuum started to make a funny sound and smell terrible. We stopped it immediately and took a look underneath, thinking that the brushes were clogged with hair which frequently happened to our other vacuums. We were quite impressed to find that brush clogging wasn't a problem at all and we have never once had to cut hair out of the brushes of this vacuum. We turned it back on and noticed the same horrible burning smell, so we started to panic a little bit. We unscrewed the green bottom panel of the vacuum in order to take a look, and what happened was actually a huge buildup of hair inside and underneath the belt which is exposed to the floor and has a guard that you can see through. It was completely clogged with hair and the hair was starting on fire from the friction with the belt. Concerned, we cleared it the hair and put the vacuum back together and went back to vacuuming as usual after some time for the stuck belt to cool down. Now, after about a month of use, we need to take apart this vacuum and clean out under the belt after every single time we use it - otherwise burning hair and smoke start to emanate from this major design flaw. It definitely takes some time with six screws and removing the brushes and adjusting the belt and cleaning out the hair and then stretching the belt and brushes back into place properly. In the photos attached you can see how much hair builds up with just one vacuuming session in our home, and then the last picture with a small ball is simply another five minutes or so of vacuuming after it had been cleaned out. We were so excited about this reasonably priced, powerful vacuum and now I'm not sure we are even going to continue using it. I wish they would send some kind of a mechanical fix for this poor design, which is actually dangerous and could cause a fire. Buyer beware!!! Probably works great for non-hairy households, despite being marketed as a pet vacuum.
