YES, it does lighten, but do not use if you don't want yellow/orange/gold/brassy. I have dark blonde/medium brown hair that lightens naturally in the sun. I'm used to being a cooler blonde. This made my hair so orange/brassy! Hundreds of dollars in salon costs later and my hair is finally somewhat non-trashy looking. ONLY USE if you have SUPER LIGHT hair already, or if you don't care if your hair is brassy!!!! No blue/purple shampoo will help.
