Anti-glare, polarizing layer defect
Upon installing our TV and verifying it worked, we set upon removing the protective plastic. The corners came up easily, and peeled off the frame without an issue. The protective layer on the screen seemed to come up in two layers. We immediately stopped peeling, as one layer seemed to want to come off easily and cleanly, and the second layer stuck a bit and left marks on the screen as it came up with the first. We called Amazon, and they in turn called Samsung. Samsung verified that there is indeed only one protective layer to be removed, and we are exchanging this TV for a different model. Leaving this review to inform other buyers of this potential issue. It seems (after additional internet research) that the second layer of plastic is supposed to be the "anti-glare / polarizing" layer, but even intact, we are discouraged by this... Any reflection in the TV appears multiplied and distorted, and tinted magenta. It could be that that helps in a low-light environment? Unsure of that, as we purchased this TV to function well in a highly-reflective environment. Perhaps we are just unlucky, and our anti-glare layer was defective, but we felt it was important to share our experience with this product, as we had trouble finding information regarding our issue.
