My 24 speed fan is really an 11 speed fan/update 3/17/19 replacement fan. Update 4/4/19 Pelonis fan.
The fan is quiet and the assembly is reasonable. On those two points it rates a 5 star. The fan is advertised as having 24 speeds but the one I received has essentially 11 speeds. 11 speeds should be plenty, but my wife uses it while she sleeps and the speed she needs is between #8 and #9. Unfortunately while the jump between the other 10 speeds is 40 to 50 RPM the jump between #8 and #9 is approximately 270 RPM. I plan on returning this fan for a replacement hoping that the replacement fan actually has 24 reasonably spaced speeds. The chart I included was made with a non contact tachometer and I ran through the speeds twice (rpm1 and rpm2). speeds 1 - 2, 3 - 4, 5-6-7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-20, 21-22 and 23-24 are each essentially the same. So the real total number of speeds as noted above is 11. The range from minimum (barely detectable) to max (strong) is good - just need it to be 24 (as advertised) consistent and distinct increases. Update: The replacement fan came in two days but unfortunately it has the exact same problem - see second chart. I now plan on returning both fans and ordering a different brand since it is likely a third fan will also have the same problems. Update 4/4/19: After receiving and testing three fans (two identical Amazon and one Pelonis) I have returned one Amazon and the Pelonis. The Pelonis has 12 speeds and I would guess comes from the same factory as the Amazon Basics fan. Instead of having a 270 RPM increase between speed 8 and 9 it has a 200 RPM increase between speed 2 and 3. The other RPM increases between the other 11 speeds is about 30 to 40 RPM. The low and high speeds are lower than the Amazon fan. The Pelonis also cost a little more than the Amazon and the remote control device is very touchy. It is a rotating control and very sensitive. The Amazon fan seemed to be better balanced and due to the remote control issue my wife preferred the Amazon Basics product. One plus to the Pelonis fan was that it held the last speed when turned off. The Amazon fan always turns on set to speed #18. Both fans were quiet on the lower speeds and the only noise on higher speeds was "prop noise" - ie. the noise generated from the wind turbulence created by the fan blades.
