Confusing for little ones
This little night light had great intentions, but it completely fails to achieve what it set out to achieve. It has a few major flaws, which I will list, that make the product completely useless, as our son has tried it for a few days and has only slept worse as a result. 1. You can't set the owl's "OK to Wake" time in advance, you have to wait until the time you want and then hold the button in for ten seconds. This means you can't use the owl until one day after you bring it home. A big strike for desperate parents. 2. The fact that the owl allows the child to set multiple night-light colors means that it becomes a night-time distraction. My child just played with his owl at night instead of letting it soothe him to sleep. 3. The owl only takes regular AA batteries, which means when the batteries die out, you have to waste another day setting the "OK to Wake" time. 4. The biggest strike, when the green light does finally turn on, it only stays on for 30 minutes. This means if your child sleeps 30 minutes longer than you'd hoped, he'll either just stay in bed wondering if it will ever turn green, or he'll decide that he's no longer listening to this frustrating owl that says he can't leave his bed. One morning, our son woke up and, while waiting for the owl to turn green, he began playing with the button that changes the owl's colors. While attempting to get to the next color, the owl turned green but he hit the button again and missed it. Another time he slept past the green light, and was very frustrated and confused when we went in to get him out of bed. If this little owl had no night light feature, it would not be such a distraction to our little one. Also, if when the "OK to Wake" time was reached the green light turned on and didn't turn off until a parent turned it off, maybe with a password, the owl would be fantastic. I think for now, instead of returning it, I'll take this little owl into the back yard and smash it "Office Space" style, just to take out my frustration over the past few nights.
