Notes from an entitled reader to the entitled author.*CONTAINS SPOILERS*
Dear Charlaine, Thank you for creating Sookie's world and all the characters in it. That said, HOW could you present this sloppy, uninspired garbage as the end???? There were so many inconsistancies and blatant fudging of your universe's rules and the characters I've come to know and love were not themselves. You want to call those of us who are extremely disappointed in this dreck "entitled readers?" Well, take a look in the mirror Sweetheart! YOU wrote Eric's evolution from mysterious, warrior, bad boy vampire to loving husband. YOU made Sookie, and therefore me, fall in love with him. He was the only one throughout the entire series who was always in Sookie's corner, whether she knew it or not. He was the one who showed her how beautiful, smart and brave she was. He was the one who reminded her the telepathy was a gift not a handicap. He graveled her drive, prevented her from being bonded to Andre, took a bullet for her and kept her secret about Debbie Pelt. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Even Sookie says he was the only one who "got her". And what does he get in the end???? 200 years of slavery to a queen he could have easily squashed while overthrowing Felipe's regime and freeing himself from his maker's contract, which was already a convoluted plot issue. YOU wrote Bill's betrayal. YOU wrote the lies and deceit. YOU wrote the trunk scene in Club Dead. And what does he get in the end? Sookie's eternal friendship. That is a slap in the face of all rape victims. YOU wrote Sam consistently as "my best friend and boss." YOU wrote him dating/fooling around with Calista, the maanad who tried to kill Sookie and Jannalynn, who also tried to kill Sookie. YOU wrote that Sookie could read his mind if he wasn't actively blocking her. Now, when it's convenient, the mind reading isn't an issue? He is given a free pass regarding the maanad because her influence was overwhelming and he "couldn't" resist? How about sharing some of that empathy in regards to vampires and their makers. Futhermore, YOU wrote Sookie as being wary of her feelings for Eric because of the blood bond and yet she doesn't care if the cluvil dor influenced her feelings for Sam?? Finally, YOU introduced Sookie as a wide eyed innocent in a world of supernaturals. She was feisty and accepting of things that were different from her because she was different and had suffered her whole life because of it. Now despite her gift, essential spark and the opportunity to give her a life worth living, you morphed her into Arlene, complete with trailer and a man she settled for rather than fighting for her true love. You took Sookie on a 13 book oddessey only to wind up at the same dead end job, in the same dead end town, with the same dead end people who think she's crazy. But MAYBE she and Sam will be together by Christmas. You should have named this final mess Dead End or Dead On Arrival. Thank you for teaching me a very valuable lesson. I will never waste another dollar or minute of my time on anything you write again. Sincerely, The Entitled Reader
