This thing is LOUD. Specs say 78dB***. Not sure what the three * mean, but guessing it means something like (***Just kidding). 78dB my butt! It’s so loud, I bought a sound level meter to check it. It peaks at 99dB at 5ft when first turned on, and gets (slightly) quieter as it fills. See attached pix, average 97dB. Remember that dB is a logarithmic scale, so 20dB louder than 78dB is not 27% louder than it should be. It’s way more. This thing is deafening. It works, it gets to 150psi fairly quickly, but I’m very disappointed. I bought it bc it was supposed to quiet (for a compressor). not. I have Bostitch air tools which have served me faithfully for years, and are of excellent quality - so this is very disappointing.
