Bought this on 3/12/2013. It works fine but after 4 months, it is suddenly dead with no sign at all. Last use was OK, no smell no short curcuit. Always thurn it off then unplug. But it is dead. Additonal comment after first review. I could not return it so I contact the company in Cleveland OH. I told them the story. Surprisingly they said they could send me a new one if I mailed them the receipt and the wire top cut from the crepe. I did it. One week later I got the new crepe maker! Very impressed with the honesty of the business.
