I bought this mattress after first experiencing it for myself at my boyfriend's place. It was comfortable, affordable- but I wanted to see how it compared to other products. I did an extensive product review (highly recommend the site "sleeplikethedead" for extensive product reviews and side by side comparisons). While there were some foam mattresses that came up with slightly higher reviews, they had much smaller sample sizes of total reviews. To me, the fact that this mattress had held such high reviews with the huge number of reviews was a pretty big plus for me. Not to mention, it's comfortable AF. The good: TEMPERATURE: I was a little nervous about being too hot with this mattress. I get hot VERY easily, especially at night, am a fussy sleeper, and oh yeah- I live in central, swampy Florida with high humidity and the AC in my bedroom is sub-par. So I had reason to be nervous. I didn't want to risk getting a mattress that wasn't as highly ranked just for the added feature of some snazzy cool-top-tenchology-thing though, so I took a leap. I figured if it was an issue, I could always buy a cooling mattress topper. I haven't needed to. I feel fine. I bought the mattress in August in the middle of swampy heat season, and I've been great. If it ever becomes an issue, I'll buy a mattress topper. Done and done. One year later, temperature is not an issue. SMELL: I've read reviews talking about the initial smell of the mattress. My house is basically two large rooms, so I didn't have a lot of options of where else I'd sleep while the mattress "aired out." The new mattress went right onto the bed frame once out of the box (ladies, you'll probably want to enlist some help when this thing comes- its dense and heavy to lop around). I put my old mattress on my kitchen floor and resigned myself to sleep there until this "air out" process that the reviews (not the product instructions) said was mandatory. I waited for the smell to start. It didn't. I kicked my old mattress to the curb and slept on the new mattress literally two hours after getting it out of the box. No smell. My boyfriend didn't notice a smell either. The bad: COMFORT: I'm light. I weigh 120lbs after Thanksgiving dinner and am 5'7". (Update: 1yr later I now weigh 130lbs *sob* but whatever.) When I first reviewed this mattress I said it was great- Since I AM light, and my boyfriend is 6'2" and has biceps to build a house with, it was always really annoying when we'd sleep together on a spring mattress. Even if I tried to position myself clinging to the very edge of the bed, I'd inevitably sink into the hole that he created by the weight difference. It was frustrating for both of us. With a foam mattress, we did't have that issue. At first. NOW I SINK INTO A HOLE EVEN WHEN HE ISN'T HERE. Now whether it's just me or the both of us, we're getting rolled into this sinkhole, and I have to cling to the edge of the bed and hope not to drown. The weird thing is, my boyfriend has the exact same mattress (I liked his so much, I decided to buy it too), and his is fine. We have tried everything to fix it, thinking it was perhaps the box spring. We tried putting wood slats underneath. We tried changing the box spring. We tried no box spring. And finally, we literally took the slats support off of his good mattress and put it under mine, and nope- still awful. I am hoping to hear from the company since the warranty is still beyond intact (it's only been 1 year!!), but figuring out how to contact them has proved difficult so far and I haven't had a response. Once I DO, get a response, I will update this post. Response will make or break my loyalty to this brand. Bottom line, this mattress is great. IF YOU DON'T GET A DUD. It comes with a killer warranty, but let's see if the warranty holds true, because if it doesn't, I wasted nearly $500 for a 1yr old new mattress that I will have to replace. ...Stay tuned!
