I would not recommend this umbrella for beach use. It is not made of high enough quality to withstand the wind you typically encounter on the beach. We had a bad experience from the get go as the stitching holding the strap to the carrying case came loose before we even had a chance to take the umbrella out. Upon using the umbrella on the beach it would consistently fold in on itself as the fiberglass rods aren't sturdy enough to withstand the wind. Also, there are only a few stitches holding the rods in place along the seems of the umbrella, several of which broke after only a couple days of use. At this point the umbrella was completely useless and would not stay up. To top it all off, midway through our week long beach stay, the auger tip broke off in the sand and the umbrella flew down the beach. We were forced to by an umbrella anchor to use for the remainder of the trip. We were highly disappointed in the quality of this umbrella. You can find one that is better made with stronger support rods at a beach shop for around the same price.
