This is what they mean by "warranty"... (All potential buyers should be aware of this!)
This hairdryer seemed to have everything I was looking for - meaning, it dried my hair and it seemed to have a good "warranty". Which usually means the products are decent quality and that their customer service will help you out if you have issues with them. I only use my hairdryer for a few minutes every couple of days, so I expect it to last for years. Especially if it has a "4 year warranty"! This unit lasted slightly under a year of VERY light use before the motor started to malfunction. On the highest setting, it would blast low. At first it was just fleeting once or twice, and it actually thought I may have imagined it, since the other reviews for this product were so good, so I really wasn't expecting any problems. Then it started consistently not being able to go to the high speed setting at all. By this time, it was just over a year. So today I called customer service to ask about the warranty. This is the conversation: "How may I help you?" "I've had my hairdryer for a little over a year and the motor is no longer functioning." "May I have the model number and serial number please? ...... Okay, yes, good news! That unit is still under warranty so we'll be able to replace that for you!" "Okay great!" "So the warranty doesn't cover any shipping or handling fees, so you'll need to pay to ship the unit back to us, plus also send in a check or money order for $5 to cover some of the cost for us to ship it back to you. And then we'll send you a replacement unit for free!" "What do you mean? Oh, you mean that I need to pay to send it in, etc, and then you'll reimburse me once you confirm that it is indeed a manufacturing defect?" "No, there is no reimbursement. You'll need to cover that. Our warranty covers the cost of a new unit but not for the shipping or handling to us or back to you." "Are you serious? But there is clearly a problem with your product." "Sorry but that is our policy." So basically I'd have to waste a bunch of time plus pay $30 or more to get another hairdryer as a "replacement under warranty" even though they confirm that the problem is with their crappy hairdryer in the first place. Another unit that would probably have the same issues?! No thanks. I will NEVER buy from this company again. Hopefully this review is helpful and stops people from falling for the idea of this 4 year "warranty" like I did!
