★★☆☆☆
It has some major issues (see updates below original review)
First things first: this is an amazing sounding audio system. I upgraded from a much older Samsung 2.1 soundbar whose subwoofer started failing on me, and this new Vizio system is better in every way. The bass is low, rich, and thundering (just how I like it). The Left/Center/Right speakers (on the soundbar) sound crisp, have excellent highs, and fill the room even without the satellite speakers. However, adding the rear satellites into the mix simply blows me away as long as I have an appropriate media source playing (e.g. a Blu-Ray with an uncompressed audio track). When hooked up correctly, and more importantly having your TV/BD player settings setup correctly for NOT PCM audio output, the surround sound experience is just as good as a wired 5.1 setup. I love it.
On to my 2 gripes so far.
-Number 1: listening to music (i.e. through Chromecast or the included bluetooth). For some reason I haven't been able to pinpoint yet, the music slightly fades in and out. I don't mean completely fading in and out; it is subtle, as if some sort of volume leveling algorithm is doing its thing. However, I have turned off all such settings like DTS truvolume (or whatever), and it still happens. It's subtle, but I hear it. It drives me insane. I just want the music to sound solid. Thankfully, this doesn't seem to happen while watching TV (the soundbar's primary purpose), but it's a shame because music sounds GREAT otherwise out of this system.
-Number 2, and this is much less of an issue, but: the wall-mounting brackets. There are two of them; one each for the left and right sides of the soundbar. It makes sense to have 2 of them, and I was glad to see a secure-looking mounting system. While installing these brackets, however, I discovered the hard way that there is like maybe a half a millimeter's worth of allowance to get it right. If your drill holes are off by more than that, the unit will absolutely not mount correctly and you'll have to start over. Vizio was nice enough to include a little template on a sheet of paper to help you with your drill holes, BUT that template is outside of that half-millimeter's allowance. I got it right the third (!) time around, so like I said it isn't THAT big of a deal but holy crap it was frustrating. I've never seen a consumer product with such little wiggle room during the installation process! Thank God all my mistake holes are covered up by the soundbar!
Well that's it. I've only had it one day so far, so I'll update my review if any other major points come up. I hope I can figure out the music thing.
***UPDATE 5/15/15***
Well I've had it a few weeks now, and listening to music is just not a strong point for this soundbar, which is very disappointing to me. Watching spectacle movies and TV shows are definitely its strong point, which is what it's meant for, but even my old old Samsung soundbar had options for switching to a "music" mode, and it sounded great. It's a shame because I was really looking for that same dual functionality out of this thing, but it's just a muddy mess when listening to music (no matter how I adjust the settings).
***UPDATE 4/19/16***
It's been about a year, and if I had the chance to do it over again, I'd buy a different sound bar. Listening to music is just awful. Especially classic rock tracks like the Rolling Stones. I don't know WHAT they did to the innards of this thing, but it has such a strong emphasis on bass that everything else is drowned out, especially vocals. I've never heard my music sound so awesomely bassy, but so terrible at the same time. Watching movies and TV is OK, but there is still an issue where the surround speakers cut in and out randomly, no matter what I try to do. Very frustrating, very annoyingly distracting, and overall just a bad, bad buy. Look elsewhere, trust me.
