After less than 6 months, all 3 of these that I purchased have started giving false alarms too frequently. The first one in our bedroom started within a couple of months of purchase. Batteries showed near full power when they started going off (battery level is reported via ZWave to Smart Things) with none of them showing less than 79%. There was no smoke or other event in our house. Conditions were not particularly dusty either and 2 of the 3 were mounted away from any ceiling fan (I read this can cause false alarms on this sort of detector, but there was no way to completely isolate the one in our bedroom). I will admit that I didn't press the test button weekly, the siren scares the heck out of our dogs, but this shouldn't matter in the proper function of the detectors. After doing some research online, I vacuumed out the sensor area on one of then ones that had gone off 3 times in a month as I read photoelectric sensors were extra sensitive to dust, but these were not mounted in a dusty area and even after doing that I had another false alarm within a week.
