Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

Something is wrong with the review system here. Usually I find Amazon reviews to be pretty accurate, if only slightly inflated. But how is it possible there are so many 5 star reviews for this book!!!? So many of them sound fake. This book was so poorly written and the characters were totally implausible with no depth. Romance was non existent and as for historical fiction - the history was wrong (ok) and the world-building fictionalization was missing entirely (not ok). No point in going into more details here, it's already been covered in other incredulous 1 & 2 star reviews for this book. I feel incredibly sad for the potentially good story and interesting premise completely wasted on this book.
