One second Cassidy is planning her revenge. Moments later she is panting with desire. Suddenly, she is now enjoying a snarky moment with her imp. There's good writing under this mess. An interesting world, clever conversations, and a solid 'plot'. Then the mess begins. Truthfully, Cassidy SHOULD be mentally unstable. Her upbringing is chock full of disaster. But the book itself doubles down on the crazy, careening whirlwind by snapping between dark, gritty paranormal, lusty romance, and quirky chick-lit all on the same page. It is almost as if the author wanted to write a different story every five minutes and just kept going in a bizarre stream of consciousness writing spree that fell down the stairs. And I want to emphasize: I actually LIKED the characters and creatures. I LIKED the plot (when I could figure out which one to follow). But the plot PLUS the characters is a disaster.
