CHEAP JUNK: DO NOT BUY!!!!! Not for serious equine professionals, or anyone else!
As a horse trainer for over 20 years, I've gone through (lost) lots of boot jacks. I'm also very familiar with Ariat quality, so that's what I had expected. When this arrived A MONTH LATE, it weighed 9 ounces, and averaged 4" wide. It's only just over 12" long, with just a small slippery step-on pad. The lightweight (balsa?) wood is not waterproof!!! I know, right? And it's so SMALL that only the heel of my dressage boots would fit in; forget the Roper cowboy boots I use for schooling. I have small feet (winter boot size 8). This is hazardous! The last boot jack I got from the farm supply store was heavy and sturdy, waterproof, large enough to step on and to get a firm grab on your heel, and had rubber mini-treads on the platform to prevent slipping. And cost less. I saw that type on Amazon but assumed Ariat would be better. Ugh.
I called Ariat, and the company said they USED TO MAKE a boot jack, but DO NOT make one now. I believe it is counterfeit, because this is not even close to Ariat quality. Also, as a professional, I believe it's HAZARDOUS to use something this flimsy. Please avoid this!
