Just used the mop in a room with vinyl planks. Used distilled water and low steam. End result was a white film all over the floor. Went over it a second time, still a film. Went over it a third time without turning the steam on. A little better. I had a steam mop (different brand) previously and it never did this. Chose this one based on generally positive reviews and the price. The machine was easy to put together and use so I am hoping that the film won't be an ongoing issue. ***Update*** Beware of using this on a textured vinyl surface. I am on the third day of working in an 8x15 room to get rid of what appears to be hard water deposits although I used distilled water in the machine. CLR spray seems to be working on the third try but requires scrubbing on hands and knees. On a positive note, the machine work great on my bathroom and kitchen floors but they are not textured. *** Update 2 (6/27/19)*** I have now downgraded my rating to a 1. The mop essentially ruined my 2 year old vinyl plank flooring. After working with the CLR cleaner I managed to lighten the white film but it has not removed it. I have successfully used steam mops before with no problem. This mop will ONLY be used on vinyl sheet flooring. It is a shame because I wanted to avoid needing multiple mops/cleaners. I cannot recommend this steam mop and regret purchasing it. It was an expensive lesson learned.
