Feels cheap and smells like polyester
I was excited about this purchase based on excellent customer reviews. It was purchased for our guest bed which is a queen. At the recommendation of others, I purchased the king comforter because they run small. When I took it out of the package, it immediately felt cheap and not worth the price that I paid (which wasn't even that expensive). The material is polyester, unlike many of the alternative down comforters on the market which have a 100% cotton exterior. The polyester was slippery, shiny and had a distinct plastic smell that comes with cheap polyester products. I then put the comforter on the bed, hoping that it would look nice once it was unfolded and laying on the bed. We have a standard queen size bed, and the king size comforter seemed small on it. It also continued to look cheap and I couldn't overcome the smell and sheen of the polyestester, and I ended up returning this product. I then went to Marshalls and for $30-35 bought a king size alternative goose down comforter that had a 100% cotton exterior, which is much nicer and more enjoyable for our guests. On another note, for our king size bed in our bedroom we bought a Natural Comfort Soft and Luxurious 300TC Sateen White Down Alternative Duvet Insert on Amazon for $85. This is an extremely nice down comforter, and also has 100% cotton. We do not use a duvet cover, but just use the comforter. I love this product so much that I would have purchased it our for guest room, but did not want to spend so much money. Overall, my recommendation is to skip this product and spend a few extra dollars for a comforter with 100% cotton exterior. Its worth the money, and will not be so cheap feeling. I would note that this is the first product that I have not been satisfied buying from Amazon (especially after reading favorable reviews). I was extremely disappointed in the size and material of the product.
