Made Me Uncontrollably Tired & Groggy... Just Wanted to Sleep....
Having recently had a number of unfortunate events happen, one after another, I found myself experiencing a near-constant sense of anxiety that just wouldn't go away. I was waking up with a sense of foreboding and being in physical danger, and could feel myself just on the edge of panic each morning, which stayed with me all day and remained even as I tried to drop off to sleep at night. I was hoping to come across something to make me a bit more relaxed and help me regain a sense of control and inner peace again, as just getting through the day was getting to be pretty difficult.
While waiting in line at a grocery store, I happened to see a special edition publication from Time-Life books, I believe it was, on the rack next to me, so I picked it up and began reading as I waited my turn to get checked out. As I read about how effective CBD oil derived from Hemp is, and how folks were getting tremendous relief from stress and anxiety with no side effects, that they weren't getting from anything else, it sounded pretty good to me.
So, I went home and got on the computer and did a bit more research and it seemed that whether advertised as CDB Oil or Hemp Oil, as far as stress and anxiety were concerned, either seemed to work. Unfortunately, every product I found when I Googled "CDB OIL" was around $100 or more, which was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend just to experiment a bit, really just not having that kind of money to play with. So, I came to Amazon to see what I could find here.
While there were no products marketed as "CBD Oil", there were a lot of "Hemp Oil" products available, so I began to read and compare the dozen or so products I had opened up in new tabs in my browser. This particular one was the most powerful Hemp Oil product out of all of them, with 250 000 mg. in the bottle. it claimed to have a "great taste", and had nearly 200 reviews, with 90% of the ratings at a 4 or 5 star satisfaction level. So, it sure sounded like a good one to try, and seemed to offer the best chance I had for a Hemp Oil product to provide me with the relief I was seeking. So, I ordered a bottle and eagerly waited for it to arrive.
When it arrived, I measured out a dropperful to see how many drops there were (the label said 30, I counted 28, so close enough). I then filled the dropper once again, squirted it under my tongue, held it there while looking at my watch, waiting for the 90 seconds to pass, then swallowed what remained.
Whoever said this was "great tasting" stuff must really enjoy drinking rancid, decayed fish oil. Okay, perhaps not as bad as all that, but pretty bad. I had to get a glass of milk to try to chase the taste away, and even then I could still taste it. It is NOT "great tasting" by any stretch of the imagination. I've actually had emulsified flavored fish oil that was "great tasting", surprisingly great tasting, really, but this was just foul. Not bad enough to cause one to vomit, but certainly not pleasant in any case.
While I had read a couple of reviews from people saying they had experienced relief from their anxiety while they held this Hemp Oil under their tongue, I noticed nothing at all myself, and hoped after I'd swallowed it (and was then contending with the taste), that I'd notice some kind of calmness, a sense of centeredness and peace start to rise at some point within me afterward. But that's not what I noticed.
After perhaps 20 minutes or so, I started to notice a very strong sense of grogginess, an overwhelming tiredness coming over me. I still had things to do, things to deal with, and the anxiety was still present and making it difficult consider how to deal with these things, but now, in addition to that, I was beginning to feel like a zombie... my head started to feel like it was being stuffed full of cotton, and while I had things to do, and things I needed to deal with, all I really wanted to do at that point was just go to sleep.
I didn't know if I went to sleep, if I'd be able to get myself to wake up after an hour or two, so I didn't want to "take a nap" just to try to "knock the edge off of it". So, I thought I'd take a little break and watch some TV, to see if I might notice a bit of calmness coming on, and for the initial overwhelming sense of wanting to just go to sleep to go away. Neither of these things happened.
As I sat in front of the TV, feeling like a zombie, my anxiety was just as high as ever as the half dozen or so things I needed to deal with kept coming back to mind, and I couldn't concentrate on the TV, my head was throbbing, and I felt like I'd been drugged with something that just made me want to go to sleep.
After a half hour or so, I finally turned the TV off, went to my computer upstairs, wrote out a plan for how I was going to deal with the things I needed to deal with the following day, and decided I couldn't fight it any longer and went to bed, expecting to go right to sleep. But I couldn't drop off, as I lay there with my head pounding and feeling like it had been stuffed full with a pillow. After an hour or so, I finally got up and took some of the purple, liquid sleep aid I keep on hand, and went to bed again and waited for sleep to finally come.
Perhaps a full dropperful was too much of a dose for me. Perhaps I should have started with 10 drops rather than 30. That would seem to make sense; that it was just too strong, because I'd taken too much. But it tasted bad; really foul, as far as I'm concerned, and I have no desire to taste it again. It also did nothing at all for my anxiety. It didn't reduce the sense of dread, foreboding, threat to my very soul, or imminent doom I've been feeling at all. Not even a little bit. Even being in a catatonic, zombie-like stupor sitting in front of the TV or at my computer, I still felt my heart racing, the adrenaline pumping, my senses on high-alert, and no sense of relief from any of this at all.
So, while it wasn't a lot of money to lose for the experiment, this just didn't work for me at all, and I seriously doubt I'll try taking it again, since it tasted so bad and provided no positive benefits that I could sense at all, only making me groggy as hell and wanting nothing as much as I wanted sleep, while still feeling all of the anxiety for which I was hoping for just a little relief.
It's quite possible that some actual CBD Oil may provide the relief I'm looking for, but until some miracle happens and some magical fairy waves their little wand and makes $100 bill appear that's especially designated to be spent on such a thing, CBD Oil is just too expensive to those who like me just don't have that kind of money laying around to spend on such things.
UPDATE: Since leaving this review, I have received a number of emails from the company trying to bribe me to remove the review, and offering to send me $50 if I would replace it with a positive 5 star review instead. I find their tactics despicable and repulsive. Rather than correct problems with their product, they instead nag people who leave negative reviews and try to coerce any negative reviews not only to be removed, but to have deceptive and false positive reviews left for them instead. I WOULD NEVER KNOWINGLY BUY A PRODUCT FROM SUCH A DECEPTIVE AND UNDERHANDED COMPANY, AND HOPEFULLY MY HONEST REVIEW WILL HELP YOU AVOID HAVING A BAD EXPERIENCE AS WELL.
