Rafe spends precious screentime having characters do gay jokes and chores in a made up town with a made up character instead of bringing the most iconic moments in the book to life. Wouldn't you rather have Mordeth, Narg Smart, the real Weep for Manetheren, Thom being an actual gleeman instead of a thief, Camelyn, Elayne or the plethora of other iconic moments they could have added instead of made up filler every other scene? Mat is the worst part. The whole reason book Mat is wonderful is because he is delightful and optimistic before he gets the dagger and THEN he descends into darkness. Instead they give him such a morbid backstory that he feels like doom and gloom from the get go.
