I've been happy with the product
Two starts because the product is not as pictured and is not as it has been in the past. Because of these discrepancies, the product was not what I expected it to be. Had I not had prior expectations, the product I received would have warranted a three star review.
I'm on my fourth Hamilton Beach personal blender. My daughter abused the first two and burned out the motors, but even with proper use, eventually the cup will spring a leak and need to be replaced. I've been happy with the product, so I bought this one that has two cups. Unfortunately, the blade isn't the same as on my prior blenders. The pictured blades match what I've had in the past, but not this product. The newer blades are thinner, shorter, and flatter and just generally flimsier. They get jammed more easily, and it's more difficult to pulverize ice than with the other blade style. I'll use it until it wears out, but I won't be buying this item again.
In each image, the old cup is on the left and the new one is on the right. The old cup is quite scratched up from use, but you can see that the lower blades are flat across, whereas on the new cup, the lower blades bend downward. On the old one, the blades are longer, and the higher blades are different angles, whereas on the new cup, the top blades are bent to the same angle, and flatter than in the old cup. The old blades have pointed tips, and the new ones have rounded tips, and although it's hard to see in the photos, the metal seems thicker in the old cup than the new one, and the beveling of the blade is wider on the older style, so blades appear sharper.
