Hey just a heads up on my recent experiences... I love carbonated water and really enjoyed the Sodastream products I've had over the last 3-4 years. I even bought a carbonator for my mother. But recently, I've had two tanks explode while I've been pumping them up. And it's a pretty large blast. In the first explosion, the bottom of the water bottle blew off and I took a fairly good impact from a piece of plastic... I e-mailed Sodaclub and they sent me a brand new dispenser and bottles. The new one blew up last night. This was another large, loud explosion and I felt like something hit my eye, maybe it was a plastic fragment, or maybe just water, but luckily no damage... Without a doubt, if a big chunk or fragment of hard plastic from the bottom of the water bottle hits you in the eye, you will have a bad day. Also, in this explosion a large portion of the top of the dispenser was damaged and the machine looked like it was blown in half. Anyhow, Sodastream is going to send me another one. I am upgrading to a model that is flat beneath the hanging bottle versus the scoop-like shape, maybe that won't shoot shrapnel out towards the operator as bad (or maybe it will bounce it upward, which could be worse.) But I am definitely going to turn the machine around so it faces away from me when pumping. I will have some major trepidation too, every time I prepare a bottle of carbonated water. Not sure why the two bottles I had failed and exploded. Until this point, I have really enjoyed the product and Sodastream has always had great customer service and are very responsive. But, in clear conscience, I have to warn others about the dangers.. If you see this review and have one of these products, I recommend turning it away from your face when pumping CO2 into the bottle.
