I did not like this trimmer. I didn't like the safety guide either. Ordinary copy paper did not cut cleanly. It left an uncut tail when I folded a single sheet of copy paper and tried to trim it to a desired width. This trimmer worked on a 50/50 basis. I tried to cut three pieces of ordinary copy paper (20lb) and it cut the first time....the second time I tried three pieces it failed and left tails I had to cut with scissors. It will cut heavyweight card stock to. I used it on card stock 140lb and it cut just fine. I didn't like the safety guide. I was so close to the edge of the blade it made lining up the paper a chore. It made it edge hard to see...therefore hard to line up. I didn't like the black color either.....made the grid hard to see. I can't return this trimmer cause I painted some of the base white so I could read the marks. I'll have to use it only for heavy card stock. Going back to the Swingline brand.
