Breville BDC400 With Glass Carafe Do not buy
After 2 weeks use: It brews a better pot than the Cuisinart we had been using for several years. The water reservoir is separate from the grounds basket, so you do not wind up with flakes of ground coffee floating in the water. The shower head is far enough away from the ground coffee, so that you don't wind up with coffee grounds splattering the shower head and getting stuck in the holes. The shower head is easily detached for cleaning. The bloom cycle gives auto drip coffee an almost pour over quality.
You do wind up with about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of water remaining in the reservoir tank after brewing, which we dump out. We've had to adjust how much water we start out with.....I'll fill the reservoir to almost 11 cups to produce 10 cups of brewed coffee. I am now looking ahead to having to eventually replace the glass carafe because.....things do break. And I cannot find a replacement glass carafe on Amazon or even on Breville's web site for this coffee maker. I guess we'd best be careful.
1 year later....the glass carafe broke, and there is no replacement to be found. I spent almost $300 for a coffee maker we can no longer use.
