I smell a skunk
Callie is bizarre a a character. Silvers will be better off not trying to write female characters because he clearly has no grasp of the headspace. His descriptions from Callie’s POV often come off creepy and awkward, sort of like a male gamer nerd’s one dimensional version of a dream babe or something. She takes second fiddle to her own supporting characters, she has no consistency and is irrationally jealous of a guy she barely knows. *eye roll* At one point she’s in a bar and does a total of four shots seemingly back to back then proceeds to describe herself as drinking at moderate (sensible) pace. -um nope!! There are just tons of annoying character inconsistencies like that. I tolerated all of it until the last chapter where she gets beaten/broken along with 3 others around her. She finally miraculously pulls through by herself vanquishes the boss (bad guy), then after the fact NT shows up and she almost has sex with him on the same ground she was beaten nearly to death on and 3 others actually did die on, and I have no idea why. No actual human being would react that way unless they were some kind bizarre psychopath. I just don’t even know how this book has any better than a two star rating. It stinks!
