Warning - Not A "Real" router - Requirement Of Cloud Based Administer Is A Security Risk
Got this some weeks ago and just getting to install it. Install went okay but had to use the ease of abuse app. Lots of limitations what you can do. For example have to use TPLink DDNS not NOIP, can't set the DNS servers I want.
Very confusing getting the info from tplink support. sent an email and they sent a canned message about how to logon and did not at all address my very specific questions.
From what I can gather, if you just want a dumb router, you'll be okay with the M3 Deco mesh. But if you want to control more, then maybe use the Archer A7 V5 router with OneMesh. Or maybe just drop TPLink all together and go with a competitor.
But it appears both DecoMesh and Onemesh require you to use a cloud account.

Have had several emails with TP-Link support about their requirement of a cloud based administration together with the capability of remote management. If TP_link is hacked and your passwords are exposed, they will have remote access to your router. From there it is easy to modify the DSN settings and insert a rogue server that can capture your logon information to your bank accounts, credit cards, etc without you being aware of this. Possibly TP Link has done additional things to mitigate this but I don't want to be a position that I hope they have. Google router remote access if you want to learn more. If you do need remote management of your router, then there are many more things that should be done to provide adequate security. Many newer TP-Link routers use Tp-link ID that always allows remote access, this router can only use TP-Link ID and does not allow you to turn it off. Not worth it to me to have this security risk. Router is going in the garbage can.
