Boooo! Cliffhanger ending
Besides the cliffhanger ending (which I hate!), the author needs to study the correct use of commas. There are dozens of commas tossed in willy-nilly which makes for disjointed reading. "Dougal came to see me, today." He stopped for gas, first." "I could care less, why." (Besides the incorrect comma here, "I could care less" means the speaker still has some interest in the matter.)
Also, I found the angst between not one but two couples boring and predictable.
