This is my LAST HP product -- ever. I bought this ink after making the mistake of enrolling in HP's Instant Ink program, which is kinda a hybrid between the Church of Scientology and La Cosa Nostra. (Maybe add in "The Hotel California"). Brass tax, I had a 25 lb mass of plastic sitting on my shelf for several months (I couldn't scan or print after I fell behind a payment ... at least they didn't kneecap me!) So, I broke down and bought color cartridges for which I have absolutely no use whatsoever, but which are required to print b/w or to scan. It's unreal, but the printer communicates with HP (yes, those conspiracy theories of control through RFID chips aren't wholly off target) to the point that a tally is kept on your print jobs and you're automatically cut off after printing what is deemed the lifespan of the cartridge -- whether you have ink left in the cartridge or not. Sorry, aspiring McGyver, those diy print refill kits don't work, best not even to try. I know, I know, this isn't the Cuban Missile Crisis, but, jeez, can't you cut a guy who's down on his luck a break????
