This product worked well for about a week or so. I was keeping this on my desk to vacuum up little crumbs, eraser shavings, etc. Last night I was startled by a loud, high-pitched, grinding noise. When I came into the room I smelled smoke and realized my cat had knocked this device off the desk (approx 3 foot drop) onto the carpet. I presume the fall had somehow turned the device on and messed something up in the circuit? I took the cover off and found that the motor was smoking and the batteries were white hot when I quickly went to remove them. I understand this product is not meant to be dropped onto the floor, but I need to warn other buyers of the possible fire hazard. I'm grateful I was awake when this all happened.
