★★☆☆☆
A regurgitation of common knowledge and an Infomercial.
What a misleading book this one turned out to be. Apparently "Captain Chris" and his band of four and five star reviewers are working the system to sell his supplements and other items through the Amazon top 100 free list. Listen, what you have here is a bunch of common knowledge steps to supposedly becoming a "Super Soldier", but the last step is the kicker...buy his line of supplements which are now (paraphrasing here; offered to trusted civilians in the USA, through executive mandate on his private website...whoa, really sounds impressive doesn't it?) and you will attain Super Soldier status. Bull. This is simply a thinly disguised infomercial which teaches you nothing specific about any of the "steps", you just get general information most of us already know. He suggests you "Keegle" (the actual spelling is Kegel, ((named after Dr. Arnold Kegel)) but what does that matter?) while sitting around--not a bad suggestion, just bad research/editing. Perhaps the only thing going for this one is the fact that "Captain Chris" does attempt to persuade his readers to incorporate the standard suggestions for good health; i.e., eating correctly, hydrating, exercising, getting enough rest and thinking positively into their daily lives, which is good. Poorly written and edited, this book is a stinker; and the misleading reviews by obvious fans of the "Captain" will have you believing you will receive information on exercise regimens as well as some self defense material. Not so! I went back and really looked at the reviewers and found that 22 out of 28 , four and five-star rated reviews were written as their first or only review. I find it interesting that a book, which is not much more than an infomercial, would inspire that many people to write their first review. Just sayin'. I read a lot of books, and I use reviews to help me make my decisions on which books to spend my time on. Many of their reviews were written in ways which suggested you would get a lot more out of this book than you do. I don't appreciate that. Unless you're looking for a little prodding and find this book to be the inspiration you needed to get off your duff and work at improving your lifestyle, you'll likely find, even at no cost, its almost not worth it. At its suggested price, you'd be better off burning a ten dollar bill to get your fireplace lit this winter. P.O.I.: This book listed for $9.95 while it was on the top 100 free list but the price dropped to $.99 right after it became a paid item. So...light your fireplace with a buck instead of a ten spot, you'll still be better off. I don't know, nor had I ever heard of, Captain Chris before I downloaded this one, but after I finished it, I Googled his name...you try that, then make up your own mind. To all of our military personnel past and present: I want to extend my most heartfelt "Thank You" for all you have done and continue to do, selflessly, day in and day out for Our Country. You men and women have been and continue to be shining examples of the American spirit and without your willingness to sacrifice for the greater good, who knows where this great nation would be now. Please know you are loved and respected by the vast majority of Americans. God Bless you!
