Good Game - Horrible Rules
The concept of this game is a wonderful idea - the rules are really stupid. I bought this for my 9 year old with dyslexia and learning disabilities and my gifted/advanced 5 year old. The game comes with several orange cards each with one consonant on them and a few purple cards with word endings such as "-at" "-it" -"ain" and "-ail." The game is a speed game (NOT a good idea for kids learning to read or kids who take some extra processing time) and the rules tell you to yell out either "snap" or "it" or "up" after you make each word which my kids don't want to and can't remember.
We decided to play the game by dealing each of us 7 or so orange cards (consonants) and the purple deck (the endings of words) being the draw pile. On each person's turn, you turn over a purple card and see if you can make a word. If you can make a word, you discard your orange consonants that you used and if you can't make a word with the purple card you drew then it is the next person's turn. The first person to run out of orange cards in their hand wins!! These rules we made up worked much better for us and saved us all the tears and frustration that a speed game would have caused.
