What a waste! The movie had some serious potential, but they screwed it up with too many unnecessary songs and a stupid plot. The comedy bits were cheap and unsurprising. How cool would it have been if Ella actually had her own shop and we were shown the process of how she achieved her dream? The story of Gwen as queen was very much worth exploring further. There was some depth to the "evil" stepmother and complexities about her character that should have been given time. They rushed through everything and took the easy route with the telling of the story. It could have been great. Of all the Cinderella remakes, this has to be the worst. And recasting the fairy "godmother" was quite possibly the worst part. Overall, a worthless attempt to remake a beautiful classical story.
