While researching for crib mattresses this one appeared great. It looked like somebody actually thought about it and it made sense-a great idea. The mattress arrived on Friday. When I opened the package strong smell was immediately apparent. If the mattress has no chemical components and has been certified for no chemical emissions, what is causing this chemical smell???? It smells like somebody was smoking and exhaling in the bag with which the mattress was shipped. Today is Monday and the smell has not changed. The mattress is propped on the living room wall, no cover, and a fan was blowing air on it. Due to the smell it is unpleasant to stay within 10 feet of the mattress. I cannot let an infant sleep on it when it makes me feel uncomfortable, due the smell, from so far away. After spending $300+ for a mattress I would like to be able to use it in the crib not having propped on the wall for days waiting, to no avail, for the smell to go away. Everything else about the mattress is great however I will ask once again, if the mattress has no chemical components and has been certified for no chemical emissions, what is causing this chemical smell???? And please do not tell me that it needs to breathe after unpacking, tell me why it smells like this. The Davinci mattress I tried before had zero smell coming out of it.
