With our technology today it seems GoWise could find a basket coating that does not chip off. They even expect it to peel. That is why they only warrant the basket itself for 30 days. I never used any abrasives cleaning this. Just soap and water with a sponge. Glad mine started flaking off before then so back it goes. I have a small one by another manufacturer that I got Christmas and it is still like new. I just needed a larger one. Since I do not want black paint chips in my food this one is going back and I will never buy another GoWise product. If you like black paint chips in your food this is the one for you! I am disgusted with this manufacturer.
