I tried contacting Lavatools for repair/replacement of my unit after it began acting up (shutting off randomly). I never received a reply on their end. Luckily, I shop with Amazon Prime, so even though Lavatools never honored their lifetime warranty, Amazon did. If you're interested, here's one of the emails I sent Lavatools: "I purchased one of your Thermowand stick thermometers back in October of 2014 (the lot number is 0914). I used it quite regularly to good results, especially for checking meat and poultry. It's a big time saver compared to corded thermometers. Lately, I've noticed my unit acting up. When I switch the probe open, the LCD screen doesn't turn on. I have to do this a few times before it does. Other times the screen won't turn on at all and I actually have to screw open the back, remove the battery, insert the battery, and then turn it on. It generally works after that. I don't think the battery is an issue because your website states the battery should last 4,000+ hours before replacement. I haven't used the probe for more than 10 hours total. Secondly, I think the calibration on my unit is off. I wouldn't say the temperature is more than +/- 5 degrees off, but I definitely notice it. For example, the probe was telling me my chicken was done at 165 F, but the meat was too pink for 165 F. My corded thermometer indicated the temperature was closer to 160 F. Since you offer a lifetime warranty on the thermometer, can I return mine for servicing? Thank you. And thanks for listening."
