I wanted to like this, I really did!! I've been using Ouidad products for about 9 years now, and for at least the first 5 years, the only options for me (classic curl hair type, slightly dry) were the Humidity Control and the Curl Quench gels. I realized early on that the Curl Quench gel was useless if there was even a whiff of humidity but was wonderful in the winter with its dry air, and so living in the south (humidity!) I pretty much used the Humidity Control from March-October and the Curl Quench the rest of the year unless it was raining when I styled my hair. Then they came out with Tress Effects gel, and I fell in love with it and really only used the Humidity Control from June-August. It would be a bit crunchy at times but always ended up looking nice. WELL. Ouidad changed the formulation of it since the last time I used it (some time in mid-2017) and now it is more expensive and is "Advanced Climate Control" and it is NOT the same--in a bad way. I expected it to be even better than the original humidity control gel and it fell way short. I had to use a ton of it in my hair--like reapplying to areas where I KNEW I'd already put some in there--and my curls not only were not staying together, but were also sort of limp. I figured that it would be fine and would perk up once it was dry. NOPE. My hair got fluffy as it dried and then it rained outside a few hours later, and again the day after that, and I ended up with a head full of frizz despite only being outside for maybe ten minutes both days (and not while it was raining). Long story short, DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT SLEEK, TOGETHER CURLS. BUY THE TRESS EFFECTS GEL and reinforce the ends of your hair with some of the Styling Mist hairspray. The Tress Effects gel costs less and for me, makes my curls look frizz-free nice and bouncy; they stay together but are not crunchy.
