★★☆☆☆
Will not cool anything because of the design.
First of all, the reviews for this fan are inflated because the seller leaves a card in with your order that asks you to leave a review in exchange for a 20 dollar amazon gift card. They even ask you not to mention the gift card in your product review. There are likeable things about this fan, but it should be understood that it is in fact a fan/humidifier. Its physically impossible for it to actually cool your room. A true evaporative cooler can cool a house by bringing air in from outside the house and cooling it using water. Like a true air conditioner, cool air comes in, while hot air goes out. This thing doesn't hook up to a window so there's no mechanism there to remove heat. Physically speaking, it has to go somewhere. However, it is a very nice fan! I like its shape and the remote control feature is awesome. You can put ice in it, but again, this has the cooling equivalent of just setting the ice cubes down on your desk and letting them melt. Its a very nice fan that also humidifies a room so I'll keep it, but definitely some shady advertising here which is why I've given a low rating. Also, it appears to be very cheaply put together. Attaching the base was a little nerve wracking because the screws they give you are metal but the base is plastic, and there was no actual thread in the screw holes for the base. So the way it works is the screws carve their way into the hole and just stay jammed in there and that's where the support comes from. No actual thread. Really a laughable design and makes me worried about the longevity of this product. Buy at your own risk but please try and understand the physics. It is not possible for this thing to remove heat without giving it a place to go.
