If you buy this set, TEST EVERY SINGLE BIT in the kit within 30 days of purchase. I've actually owned several of these kits across the year, always been EXTREMELY happy with their performance on metal or on wood. They cut like butter for a long time, and I've replaced the kits only after using them to the point of exhaustion. But recently I bought a set because I knew I'd need it in a few months time, for a special project. Threw the set on my workbench, where it sat until needed. The day I needed it I used several of the drill bits with no worries - they cut like butter, self-centered exactly as I desired, all was good - until I got to the 1/4" bit. The material I was drilling just LAUGHED at that bit. I tried moving to a softer material - more laughing. The 1/4" bit would not drill into ANYTHING - NOTHING. I examined the tip and it was indistinguishable to my naked eye from every other bit in the set. Then came a frustrating conversation via online chat with Dewalt. After waiting FOREVER for their chat "to find a representative for you to speak with", I finally got someone, told them about buying the set and sitting on it until needed for a couple months, and then discovering ONE apparent defect in the box set. Their quick reply? "Sorry, 30 day warranty." Period. Yeah, cause every person I know who buys a drill bit set takes each one out, one by one, and tests each of them in turn, careful to do so within 30 days of purchase. Seriously, Dewalt?! As I said, I've purchased several of these across the years - but no more. Dewalt is struck from my list forever.
