I purchased this bike rack and when I took it out of the box thought it was going to be just what I needed to transport two bicycles home to Washington from Northern California. I read the reviews about the metal clips and was prepared with white duct tape to cover them and protect the paint on my white car. The first leg of the trip was only 1 hour before we began the trip in earnest the following morning. I noticed a small wobble during the drive but the wind was high and as it was my first time putting it on the car I thought maybe I needed to tighten it even more. So, I didn't think it was anything to worry about and would make the adjustments when I arrived at my destination. When I arrived I discovered the cause of the wobble was that one of the rubber stabilizing pads had fallen off and the metal tube underneath subsequently chewed the crap out of his paint on the back of my car. I am returning it and have now invested in a Thule... I wish I had made this choice the first time. I'm just glad I at least have touch up paint to protect the car from rust since it for down to the primer in some spots.
