Melted Scotch Laminator
Purchased this last December 2015 and only opened and used it today. I read all the instructions before using this thing so I don't know why this happened. I am really disappointed with this laminator. After plugging it in and setting it on 5 mil (I was going to laminate a card with a 5 mil Scotch Thermal Pouch), I waited for the "Ready" light. Once it indicated it was ready, I inserted the pouch, sealed edge first, and noticed a burning plastic smell. I felt worried because I don't want my card to get ruined. Anyway, the card came out with a bubble (about 1 inch by 0.5 inch) close to the sealed edge. I inserted the card again hoping it would get straightened out, but the bubble remained. While the card was laminating, I noticed the burning plastic smell getting stronger and after the 2nd pass of the card in the laminator, I quickly turned off the laminator and unplugged it. As I was looking at the laminator, I noticed that the front edge where the laminated objects enter melted and is warped! I was so surprised because this is not my first laminator. I have a Purple Cows laminator and it never gave me problems, never melted nor smelled like burned plastic. I recently gave that away because I bought the Scotch Laminator, thinking it was a better brand. But I was wrong. Buyers: Beware!
