I would give them less than one star if I could
If I could give this less than one star, I would. I got sucked into their "free 7-day trial" because of their promise of the NFL Network, and my desire to watch pre-season games. So, first, you can only watch one game at a time - and you don't get to decide which game it is. The game we wanted to watch started at 7pm; as of 11pm, it still had not become available on Sling. Next, when I signed up for the free trial they required a credit card before the "free" trial could start. This should've been my first clue. I received an email from Sling stating by which date I needed to cancel the service in order to not be charged the monthly fee. I cancelled within that time frame, and even received an email (within the stated time) from Sling expressing their disappointment that I was leaving, and instructions on how to re-join if I ever decided to do that. It also stated that my account would be turned off immediately. Two days later, my credit card was charged for the monthly service fee for the upcoming month. When I called Sling Customer Service, I was told that I hadn't cancelled within the required time frame. When I pointed out that I had TWO emails confirming dates, and my compliance, I was told, "No, you don't. You didn't do what you were supposed to do, so we're charging you." No matter what I said - and no matter what proof I had FROM SLING, the Customer Service Rep said I was wrong, and therefore I was being charged. They would not be refunding me my money. I had to file a Fraud Complaint with my credit card company - which I told the CS Rep I would be doing. I was told "do what you have to do. We're not refunding you."
I thought the whole point of a "free trial" was to see if the service was worth paying for, without any cost or risk? Well...the service was NOT worth paying for. It was very cumbersome, and did not operate intuitively. The quality of the video was low when my other apps (Prime and Netflix) were not experiencing any problems (I would turn off Sling, then turn on Prime or Netflix to see if the problem was Sling or the internet. The problem was Sling). Additionally, the app does not work on a Chromebook, which Sling is fully aware of (check out the complaints/requests on their Facebook page), but does not reveal in advance (unless you do a lot of research).
I could continue to point out issues, but the bottom line for me is that I wanted to try it and see if it was what I was looking for. It wasn't - which is my issue, not theirs. Then they had to go and charge me $24.99 for the "free" seven days <= that's my problem. Stay far, far away from these folks.
