The holes along the perimeter are too small to actually hold the batteries and that the lid won't close with the batteries inserted. If you press the batteries in far enough to almost close the lid, then you will need pliers to extract them. That is not a speculative statement - I needed pliers. I wonder if this was put on sale because the blow mold was defective and they wanted to unload a "bad" batch. Really, that's the only explanation I can think of for shipping out something this defective. As it is, it's worse than useless and it's going back.
