Last year I was making a purchase from Amazon and I noticed the Discover promotion:" if you open an account and make a purchase with your Discover card, we send you $50 Amazon gift card." I already have the Amazon store card and and I really didn't need another card but unfortunately greed and the sound of a gift card to my favorite store made me open an account and I made a purchase. I never received the gift card so I emailed them. First they said they had to verify the purchase. 6 weeks later I asked again, I received a letter in the mail confirming the purchase!! and notifying me to look for the gift card in the mail!!! in 4 to 6 weeks. Never got it. Unfortunately I am not the kind of person to let go easily even though $50 is not worth the aggravation. So I contacted them again and they said amazon is responsible for the promotion. I told them Amazon would have sent the gift right away, besides why would the most popular company in the world need to join Discover card that is not even accepted in most places, to help its business. The last email I got from them was a rude and very sarcastic email. That account is closed off course.. It was my own fault to get greedy over $50 and get another credit card that I never needed.
