No recipes in this book! Confusing layout. Basically somersize reinvented.
After of year of being on the fence about this book I finally decided to order it, when I searched it I found that this new one was due out today and I ordered it expecting to get it on Thursday, I have thumbed through the book and it does seem like a very doable program, my major issue with the book and why I would never give it 4 or 5 stars is that the recipes on the sample menus that they refer to constantly are NOT in this book but in their cookbook! I'm sorry but I have bought my fair share of diet books and ALL of them had recipes that they referred to right in the book not in another book! I honestly feel like I'm being taken advantage of and that the authors are being self serving by not including recipes that are referenced and instead leave you in the position of having to buy the cookbook separately. They didn't have to put in tons of recipes but a few would've been extremely helpful not to mention why reference them when they aren't even in the book to begin with. They should have a disclaimer that says in order to follow the menus you need to order the cookbook along with this book. Another issue I have is that there really should be a shopping list of the basics that are needed especially for someone that really doesn't have many of the items that are needed to follow this plan, yes there are lists but they are broken up in different areas of the book and makes it very confusing. I find that this book is poorly put together and really could of been much better done. I giving this book a 1 star because it is missing a critical part of the plan which is the menus.
*****Update***** After looking over the book some more I am very certain this diet is basically the same one that Suzanne Somers was peddling back in the 90's called somersizing in which basically you keep your fats and your carbs separate and eat meal with those macro nutrients at least 3 hours apart. If you read the positive reviews on THIS book you will find that most have the original and have been doing the program for a while so of coarse they have the recipes, I don't think it's honest to do a review on a book you don't have just because you have the original. Another issue I have now is that after posting this original review I have gotten negative comments and people telling me that I should've bought the original and that this book is just a supplement to the original, no where in the description does it say that this book is a supplement or that you need the cookbook in order to use the recipes that are referenced in THIS book. After reading some other comments online that malign people that don't like the plan I find the cult like adoration of the plan and it's authors disturbing. If you want this plan make sure you buy the cookbook along with it.
