★★☆☆☆
A criminal waste of potential - dumb as toast for no reason
This movie could have been a contender - a likeable heroine and her imperiled father reconnect even as they struggle to survive rising water, a falling-apart house, and a pissed-off crocodile. Unfortunately, whoever was in charge decided that an unlikely but realistic scenario wasn't exciting enough, so they added more crocs...and more crocs...and then some baby crocs, and it was at that point I realized the whole movie was a crock. The increasingly cliché situations and violations of basic croc ecology wouldn't bother me so much except that it was all entirely unnecessary - one croc was enough, gosh-durnit! There was no reason to introduce potential rescuers and feed them to the crocs not once but twice. There was no reason for TWO crocs in the same basement, let alone a half dozen in the same area. The final insult was that there was no reason for that lady to find a croc nest - I could see where it was going, but it added NOTHING, and croc nests don't work like that! One daughter. One father. One storm. One crocodile. The movie that made those ingredients into a horror story would have been unique, clever, and memorable. This is none of those, and I wish I could get back the time I wasted on it.
