Very disappointing. I had purchased this item in hopes it would help pad and soften a new mattress we purchased that was too hard for us to sleep comfortably on. As it turns out this pad, while it appears to be fairly well padded and well made, only made the surface of the bed even harder than it was without the pad! We kept it on there several weeks, figuring it might need a 'breaking in' period, but that never materialized. I still don't understand how the pad could make the mattress feel harder, not softer, but there you have it. It was so bad that it began to cause pain in my hip and shoulder when I slept on my side, and my bad back has been so flared up that I've had to return to my chiropractor repeatedly for treatment. I finally gave up, removed the pad and just placed two super cheap twin xl standard foam toppers on the mattress. THAT worked! And to think I could've solved the problem for only $20. And of course, it's too late to return it. So, Goodwill will be getting a mattress pad. :/
