Not as advertised - thinner and less dense
I got the item described as "0.5" x 24" x 72" inches" with a Density of 1.8 (meaning 1.8 pounds per cubic foot).
after unpacking and letting it sit for a day, I measured the thickness with a dial caliper. The thickest part was 0.4" thick, and much of it was less than 0.35" thick. With the advertised dimensions, the entire piece would be half a cubic foot in volume, and weigh half of 1.8 pounds, or nine tenths of a pound, about 14.4 ounces. The foam I received weighed 8.9 ounces, implying a density of 1.1 pounds per cubic foot. Last, I could compress the foam to 0.01 inch with my finger applying a force of 14 ounces. I don't have a way of measuring compressibility in a manner used by the supplier, which would require instruments I don't have.
