Trips breakers and pulls way more than the rated 1500W - Not Safe
The most important thing you need to know is, this heater is junk.
I have used nothing but Lasko heaters in my home for 20 years without issues. I currently have a 10 year old Lasko heater in my room that works fine, it's just taken a beating over the years. Fan's a little noisy, one of the knobs is broken, but it still works and works well. Regardless, I felt it was time for an upgrade.
I purchased this heater due to the fine temperature control and esthetics. I was pleased to find that the remote is even compatible with a couple of my other Lasko heaters around the house. Unfortunately Lasko's quality has seemingly degraded in the last couple years.
Looking at other reviews I was a little concerned due to lots of issues with poor packaging, damaged products, overheating, poor quality assurance and defective units. I chalked this up to counterfeits, FBA swaps and just plain bad luck. After all, I'd been using their products for 20 years and not once have I had an issue or defect. I went ahead and ordered it with confidence.
Being that this was rated at 1500W - the same as my old heater - I did a direct swap. Pulled the old plug and plugged in the new. Currently on this circuit I've got approximately 150W max load at any given time. That works out to less than 1.5A on this 20A circuit. A 1500W heater pulls approximately 13A. The heater and other accessories on this circuit pull less than 15A when working correctly. I had been running in this configuration for 10 years without an issue.
I was literally only able to use this heater for one day. While it put out plenty of heat - it tripped the 20A breaker several times.
I want to do the math for you...
20 amps at 110v = 2200W to overload the breaker.
This heater pulls 1500W (~13A) by design, but at some point - possibly during the cutoff - this breaker pulls a large amount of excess current, well above its designed load. It appears to be pulling at least 18A before tripping the breaker. This works out to over 2000 Watts being pulled. Luckily the circuit breaker cut it off, but it had it not, it could have easily started a fire.
It seemed to only trip the breaker when in auto temperature mode. This leads me to believe that there is likely a transient spike that occurs when the temperature sensing circuit triggers the shutoff. It's possible there is an internal short that is causing this issue, or it's possible Lasko cheaped out on the safety features of this device. Either way, I can't recommend it.
