I paid Amazon extra money for a Kindle without ads. The Home screen is just another Amazon store, showing me all their "recommendations". I'm really annoyed at Amazon's sleaziness in forcing ads on me even when I bribed them to leave me alone. Sure, you can switch over to the Library list view to try and avoid the ads, but it reverts right back to the Home screen when you have it turned off for a long enough time. I only replaced my old paperwhite because it no longer held a charge. When this paperwhite breaks I'm not replacing it; I'll just keep the device so I can still access my ebooks through the app on my phone. No sense in wasting any more money.
