A credit card number is required to activate. The company will use that number to charge you repeatedly, even after you've created an online account and made sure to turn off auto-renew. I activated the $5 prepaid SIM on July 2, 2017 and was charged $5 each on July 31, Aug. 3, Aug. 7, Aug. 8 and Aug. 14. I called on Aug. 1 or 2 and had the July 31 charge reversed. The customer service representative hung up on me and a representative from my credit card issuer when we called to complain about the other unauthorized charges.
